Integrated microfluidic structures
We develop microfluidic structures for the analysis of liquids such as blood (coagulation, type, …) or cell suspensions. Dependent on the specific application and the required functionality, different materials or material combinations are available by HSG-IMIT:
- Silicon
- Silicon-Pyrex-bonds
- Glass
- Polymers (COC, PC, …)
- PDMS
Typically, the developed microfluidic structures include elements such as channels, chambers, mixers or even active sensor elements. The liquids are then passed through the structures by using an external drive mechanism, e.g. a syringe pump. This allows to exploit the advantages of laminar microfluidics for different applications requiring small discrete volumes or continuous flows.
HSG-IMIT has available cleanrooms of class 10 to 10,000 as well as a separate silicone lab for:
- mixing and spin-coating of silicones
- O2 und N2 plasma bonding
- optical multilayer alignment
- bonding of silicones with polymers such as PEEK
